Into the past with a side character in mind

Writing Prompt:

"Take a side character from the future, bring them back into the past, and write a story about them. "

The first writing prompt that I will be undertaking will be the actual first writing prompt that was given. Here is a list of the prompts provided by writing excuses if you want to follow along or try for yourself. I was not certain of how to interpret the first writing prompt so it took some time to think of a way to make it fun for me to write about. The podcast focused on side characters. They went along to define side characters as someone that does not get their own viewpoint, cannot be in the scene without another character always being present with them, and/or someone who does not get a lot of on screen time. Also, the side character cannot be the main bad guy in the story.

What I took away from this prompt was something that some people might not agree with. I think that what I figured would work before for advancing my skills and for creativity. My interpretation was to have a side character in a story that is from the future that comes to the past and write a story with them. I understand that is not the way that the prompt reads, but I feel that the goal of this challenge is to effectively write an interesting side character without losing focus on the main character. So, with that in mind my ultimate goal is to have this time traveler as a side character in the story of someone who has not traveled time.

Now this forces me to focus on making the story and main character more improtant than that side character. I find this to be a good exercise for honing my skills. So, after putting some thought into it I believe that I have a good short story lined up with this as the proposed scheme.
