So I have completed 50,000 words for my NaNoWriMo novel. I have kinda-sorta finished the plot with an open end to more story for this or expanding fully into another novel. I would like to share the premise of the story with all of you. The main character is a newly promoted minion/underling that gets trapped in the throne room. Things go wrong and everyone in the room gets killed but him. From there he attempts to hide the fact that his master is dead or risk chaos and potentially death by the rest of the hoard. From there he gets tortured, befriends an old shawoman/witch, befriends a Giant monk, deals with a crazed War General, uncovers a betrayal, and much more.
I honestly need to boil down the story to flesh out the characters properly and connect the piece of the story fluidly. With getting my 50k words I will be able to get Scrivener at 50% off (which is 20 USD) in which I have asked for as a Christmas present.
I really like my main character and the side characters. The main problem that I have is the main antagonist. He (they) do not feel real enough. I have not re-read the story yet but I knew this as I was writing it. They were sort of a place holder to get the main character to do what they were going to do. This bad writing, but going at the pace that I was, I feel that it is acceptable for the first draft.
Now with NaNoWriMo over with I can refocus on the shorter stories that I have been working on. I feel a sigh of relief with this as the short stories are what I have been working most with Though, writing a long piece of fiction was/is enjoyable to really work out a character or idea.
Now with the Write Daily prompt today.
Today we want for you to depict a situation where there is a confrontation. This confrontation can be physical, verbal, or mental so long as there is dialogue where one character has a foreign dialect.
Fight! Fight! Fight!
